YouTube is arguably the best thing to ever have happened to the internet… in many ways it answered all the questions about whether computers would destroy community or bring us closer together. The only problem with YouTube is that there is waaaay too much. Videos that 50 million hits, other think suck. That’s why Wimp is the best thing to happen to the internet in the past year… its the perfect filter for the onslaught of video. In 20 minutes you are up-to-date on all the best video our planet can produce. Not bad.

Ya ya… I know, almost 2 full months without an update! Thats just wrong. With all this hope and change in the air its been hard for me to get motivated to write on IA! Just kidding. I’ve been working like a demon recently and just haven’t found the time to compile all the news I’ve been collecting. So buckle-up, this is going to be a big update.

• First up, an awesome clip from the 1976 Battle of the Network Stars, its ridiculously politically incorrect and includes lots of 70s TV actors including: Howard Cosell, Gape Kaplan, Telly Savalas, Ferra Faucet and lots of other C-grade stars you barely remember. I love Gabe Kaplan: Welcome Back was the bomb yo! Plus he’s a great poker player, generally entertaining guy and he has the wickedest ‘fro in this clip. It has it all: smoking after a relay race, sexual misconduct, jokes about nazis killing jews… its great stuff!
• We’ve all wanted to throw a shoe at George Bush. Now you can! Without getting throwin’ in Gitmo… and you can score points at the same time!
• BloodyDingo sent me this highlight clip of Unnecessary Censorship from Jimmy Kimmel
• Tha Dingo also sent the trailer for Year One with Jack Black and George Michael aka Michael Cera.
• Just like Fox News, I gotta start on the Obama bashing as soon as possible. This headline was pulled from CNN within minutes of being posted: “Obamas Juggle Inaugural Balls“.
• Selma sent me a link to the Daily Puppy. Only about 10,000 times cuter than you think.
• For those Vancouverites out there, Selma also sent this useful and well organized site of Vancouver Hiking Trails.
• Last and most definitely least, Gerard told me about a cookbook that was posted to the open-contribution cookbook site Lulu.com, its caleld Natural Harvest. Warning, this one is going to stay with you for a while… and not in a good way.

• This is -way- late by now but still funny enough to post, the McCain / Obama dance off
• If you haven’t seen it already, the Waaaaasssuuup 2008 update. Great stuff.
• The top 14 James Bond gagdets… apparently the new movie doesn’t really have any gadgets… sad. Obviously the jetpack is pimpin’ my other favourites: the golden gun and the 1963 motorola beeper. Hot!
• This has been all over the internet but in case you haven’t seen it, the Staten Island Zoo Giraffes skit from SNL.
• A wacky article from slashdot on how to cloak an object at a distance.
• Bloodydingo found this great reel from the Price is Right with the best boobie highlights. Priceless.
• A new StarTrek is coming and its a prequel. Check out the trailer if you’re a trekkie.
• Finally, the Simpson’s mocked Apple on a recent epi and Selma found the video.

• The new Cohen Brothers movie “Burn After Reading” looks great and sounds like its in the same vein as the classic Big Libowski
• The School of Everything tries to hook up teachers with students and expand learning across disciples by using the internet. Ars has a review of the site which concludes that its a good idea but lacking in users.
• Selma sent me this truly wacky ad site for the drink 5-Alive caleld Super Crazy Alive.
• Aech sent me the trailer (which you may have now seen since its on TV a bit) for the Bill Maher and Larry Charles (of Seinfeld) movie Religulous which looks good.
• You can bet on pretty much anything including almost every world sport and even the US election results through an interesting looking site called Betfair. You can also trade athletes and teams on the newly opened OneSeason website.
• Slashdot review the The Ninja Handbook. Say no more.
• Nerd-core  has become all the rage lately (even though as a hip-hop fanatic and geek, I see very little of value in it) but these two tracks are actually pretty good/funny: the Astro-biology Rap and the Large Hadron Collider Rap.
• Some random guy named Noah has taken a photo of himself every morning for 6 years and compiled the whole thing into a quickly moving video… pretty interesting to watch really.
• I’ve been loving the Urban dictionary lately. Its hilarious to check out terms that you heard referenced or even look for terms that you feel like you’ve coined. Selma created and we repeated thousands of times the term “cockblock” on a vacation last summer… since then the meaning on Urban Dictionary has changed!
• Random thoughts by Street Samurai. I was thinking about conjugal visits the other day and wondering if they are an urban myth or not… and if they aren’t, how common they are. Wikipedia to the rescue! Canada allows visits but only 7 states (and no federal prisons) allow visits: “France and Canada allow prisoners who have earned the right to a conjugal visit to stay in decorated home-like apartments during extended visits.”
• Finally, BloodyDingo sent me the link to FailBlog. Just click the link and start laughing.

Holy Crap. Its that time again!

• This flame throwing wheel chair almost makes me want to break a leg so that I can roll around burninating fools!
• BloodyDingo sent me these awesome play-by-play recaps of W’s Chest Bump with a US Airman. He’s so awesomely cool.
• Kentucky Fried Movie was a classic in its day and predates almost all spoof movies… its still pretty funny in parts but the classic skit (its got gratuitous nudity and midget BDSM!) is Catholic Highschool Girls in Trouble. I can’t tell you how many adolescent fantasies that skit spawned!
• Check out this Web 2.0 science wonder, its real-time tracking of a deer population. The owner of the site put GPS on several deer and is now tracking their location in real-time to the web. Very cool.
• If you’ve ever worked on the web or have ever worked in a technology related office… you’ll love this video called Website Down: Sales Guy vs. Web Dude. Fucking hilarious.
• My Dad sent me this, so you’ve probably all seen it. Its supposedly pictures of Robert Mugabe’s house in Zimbabwe. Is it really his house? Not sure.
• We were trying to figure out how to spell the word Douche the other day at work (don’t ask)… through the wonders of google, I ran across this video tastefully titled Full Throttle Douche.
• A pretty classic reverse prank phone call (in video form).
• The Drake sent me this video of the craziest possible police chase from GTA IV. Its actually pretty awesome even though I’ve never played the game.

To be honest, there is very little in the news recently that has got my blood flowing. Nothing really seems to be happening in the world (that I haven’t already written about)… at least thats of particular interest to me. The RIAA is still suing its customers, the MPAA is still trying to shutdown random under-used torrent sites, W is still president and the world is still on a Titanicesque crash course with global warming… thank god people still have a sense of humour (and the free time to post it on the internet)!

•  First up, I’ve recently been published! But please don’t buy the book. Its probably terrible (although I haven’t received my complementary copy yet). Unless you’re a hard-core UI designer or a student being forced to buy the book as a textbook… I’d say you’d have more fun going to the dentist than reading this book.
• I’ve written about it before but at the office we’ve been going crazy on the Hollywood Stock Exchange. What is it? Its a virtual stock exchanged based purely on movies and actors. Its totally free and you start with 2 million in virtual investment capital. After using it for over a month, I can say that its a very frustrating market to play… but its a fun and well executed idea. If you end up signing up, add me to your league I’m ’samuraiman’.

• The Dingo also sent this link a gallery of The Gathering in Norway, the worlds largest LAN party (I can only imagine the colossal BO that must be emitted from this place).
• Selma sent this disturbing funny Wack Your Boss flash game. I’d suggest not forwarding it to your boss or you may end up with a police escort and a restraining order.
• Finally, if you’ve ever fantasied about having sex while rock climbing… and really who hasn’t… then a new sport called Clucking is definitely for you.

• If you dig your Battle Star Galatica (and why wouldn’t you!) check out this cool Last Supper pic with the entire cast.

• Dreamworks has bought the rights to Ghost-in-the-Shell (probably the second best anime ever made) and intends to make a live action Ghost-in-the-Shell.
• Corey sent this ad for Folgers Coffee from back in the day… doesn’t get more sexist than this!

• For those of you who think of yourselves as true geeks, you really have to check out the documentary entitled The King of Kong. BloodyDingo gave me a copy and its super good. All about the quest to be the best Donkey Kong player on the planet. Check out the Twin Galaxies website (mentioned in the movie) they have top accredited scores for all the big arcade games. • Selma sent me this article on the worlds smallest weightlifter.
• Speaking of D&D and not funny at all, Gary Gygax (the creator of D&D and generally creative guy) dies at 69. Wired has a great background and history of all Gary’s amazing accomplishments and ideas.
• BloodyDingo sent in a Mormon article on Overcoming Masturbation , its only 20 steps! Number 17. “Avoid people, situations, pictures or websites that create sexual excitement”. So basically no TV, movies, internet or going outside for me.

Sorry to all my loyal readers… its been a bit of a crazy few months for me: evicted from our house, a ridiculous amount of work and nothing overly motivational in the news in the last few weeks have combined for little time or effort on my part for IA. I hope that this series of posts will be a new beginning for the site.

• If you missed the ads at the SuperBowl, BloodyDingo sent a link to the trailer for Will Farrell’s new movie Semi-Pro which looks great. If you want to check out some of the other Superbowl ads they are all available.
• Did you know that Jean Claud Van Damme’s first movie appearance was in the classic break dancing movie Breakin’… who knew he was a ‘great’ dancer?
• A defendant in a DWI case wants to see the source-code of the breathalizer that is being used convict him.

As we’re away on holiday over christmas this is probably the last IA update for this year. I hope everyone has a good christmas holdiay and for the love of god… don’t buy too much crap. Your friends and family don’t need it and the environment certainly doesn’t either.

• You know there are just some things that must be done in order for the universe to continue to expand and the earth to continue to spin. We already have Wii… it only makes sense that we’d need to have a video of topless women playing said Wii. That being accomplished, the universe can continue to function normally.

• Shinanigoat sent out this next-gen video streaming site that streams stuff in very high quality and has an interesting backlog of shows.
• Speaking of streaming video, the Webby’s have released their Top 12 Most Influential Internet Videos of all time. I’d say IA posted at least 8 of these over the years.
• In the wake of Comedy Central’s release of every Daily Show episode free and streaming, they have now released every South Park episode now available for legal download/streaming.  America… Fuck Yeah!
• You may have seen them already but here are the Mr. T and William Shatner World of Warcraft Ads… together again for the first time.
• A pretty amazing video of the world record house of cards standing up to a leaf blower. Thats some serious structural engineering!
• Selma sent a link to Vector Magic which is a Standford site that lets you upload any picture, it then turns that picture into a vector version of the same thing. Vectors allow the picture to be resized to pretty much any size without loosing significant quality. Its a cool idea and worth trying once or twice.
• Both Cam and Produce recently sent me links to the 25 most baffling toys from around the world… including the play stripper pole that caused a ruckus last year and some other gems.
• I remember hearing about an app like this years ago but never being able to find a link to it, this is a Mobile Java program that can turn your phone’s vibra feature off and on for an unlimited period of time.  I’ll leave it to the ladies to figure out what to do with it once its on.
• A pretty wacky / interesting compilation of radioactive products from the days of yore. I still remember a guy showing me his radioactive watch and telling me how cool it was that it glowed in the dark… if he still has it… he probably glows in the dark now too.
• One of the few interesting Ask Slashdot articles I’ve read recently is on How do you find non-RIAA music? A good idea if you want to support artists who don’t support DRM, inflated prices and deceptive marketing techniques.
• A collection of some really nice, free nature-based desktop wallpapers
• Chimps handily beat Japanese College students in a recent memory study.

There haven’t been many updates lately… but honestly its not because I’m a lazy bastard… well ok it is… but mostly its because there has been a distinct lack of news lately. Why? No idea. Maybe I’m just become more discerning in what I post!

• Selma sent me this list of the worst album covers ever. Heino represent!
• Charlie and Candy Mountain. You pretty much just have to watch it. Its awesome in a terrible kind of way.
• A man sized crawfish claw found in Germany.
• The newly released Seasame Street season 1 DVD is intended for adults only. No its not Big Bird and Snuffleufigus finally getting it on. The 1969 first season has some fairly questionable material included (check out the video in the link).
• The Prisoner Of War edition of Monopoly used in WWII actually helps prisoners escape.
• StarTrek Season 1 has been released on DVD including updated special effects. Reviews: Good!
• An extreme fix for recovering extremely fucked up CDs
• The top 10 Gadget Scams of all time. I can’t believe that speaker wire (and cable in general) isn’t on this list!
